The most touching and hopeful story you'll read today.

Save the planet and your marriage! [info]phinnia and friends ponder the TwoDaLoo. You have to read the comments.

The eczema/allergy connection -- do we have it backwards?

Child abuse may ‘mark’ genes in the brains of suicide victims. And presumably also in those who don't necessarily kill themselves. Once again, nature and nurture are intertwined.

Thanks for the story about Tony and Kaelin. You're right. That made my day.

Unfortunately the touching story was offset by my friends list telling me that a proponent of ex-gay therapies is leading the DSM-V working group on gender and sexuality, and a story about sexual assault. Blah. People suck too much. Thank you for the interesting, as always, links, and the uplifting story!

Hm.

I work next door to a fairly influential member of APA who's currently reviewing their new study about reparative therapy. She hasn't heard anything, but if you can get me a specific name, I'd be glad to check that rumor out and report back.

Thanks for the eczema/allergy link. The article explains a lot of what I've experienced.

Yeah, it was that "have a happy period" that motivated me to switch entirely to reusable cloth maxis.

And I want fewer people in the bathroom with me, not more (our house in Vallejo was built so that the bathroom was, essentially, also the hallway between the two bedrooms. NEVER AGAIN. Srsly. I demanded my own damn potty when we bought this house.)

Yeah, when I read about that (or related) eczema last year is when I looked into finding a barrier lotion on my own. It's the only thing that's worked for the eczema on my hands, which is 99% gone now. It's great.

The time may not be far off when a school counselor or day care worker can order a blood test on a child and send them to foster care based on abuse markers. Don't know if that's Orwellian, or a blessing for pre-verbal childres...
