What Makes Someone Creepy?

The recent World Fantasy Convention featured a guy so outrageously obnoxious in his groping, unwanted sexual comments, stalkerish threats, and refusal to take no for an answer that he's become the talk of the Internet. Also, he got thrown out, as he so richly deserved.

Now, this guy sounds as though he was trying for a kind of evil allure -- claiming to be a Dark Mage who could control strippers with his mind, threatening to invade women's sleep and give them nightmares, calling all women bitches, and incidentally pulling the Nice Guy card (!) on at least one occasion. Clearly he has been reading the wrong writers. My guess is too much Aleister Crowley.

But plenty of people, me included, have been obnoxious or creepy without trying to impress others with our wicked transgressiveness.

So. What makes someone creepy?

What's the best way to deal when you're accosted by a creeper?

How do you get rid of a creeper?

How can you tell a stranger they're being creepy? How about n acquaintance or friend?
