Today I'm waiting for the repairman to come and tell us that our fridge (out since last Thursday) can't be fixed. Or if it can, that the part will take 3 weeks to arrive. The fridge belongs to our landlady, so we can't just go out and buy a new one.
With all the fires, floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes others are enduring, living in a house with no working fridge doesn't rank high on the tragedy scale, but it's amazing how inconvenient it is. I can't even think about the vast amount of food we had to throw away, or what it will cost to replace it. But at least our neighborhood is not on fire, and we have electricity and safe drinking water.
